Serena Williams to Feature in Campaign for Bumble App
Tennis - Tennis Champion Serena Williams will feature in a year-long marketing campaign for the Bumble social networking app that will kick off during the Super Bowl event on February 3rd. The Super Bowl campaign, titled 'The Ball is in Her Court' will be aimed at empowerment of women.
Bumble began its journey as a dating platform where women could initiate conversations with potential male dating partners but the company is now looking to get into other areas as well including Bumble BFF and Bumble Bizz, aimed at helping women find friends and build business networks.
Williams commented on the campaign, "Society has taught us as women to kind of sit back and not necessarily be the first one to speak up. We want to take that and flip the story. We are letting people know we are not afraid. We no longer want to cower. We want to stand up. I would not be where I am today had I let the fear of making the first move hold me back. We want to make noise. This is the best and perfect place to make the biggest noise that we can."
Williams will serve in the role of a global advisor to the company and has been closely associated with the campaign. The Bumble app currently has more than 47 million users.
Williams is currently in Australia for the Hopman Cup and Australian Open, She will be hoping to win her 24th Grand Slam singles title in Australia, which would tie her for the most number of Grand Slam singles titles won by any player.
