Roger Federer: 'The house almost came down, it was that loud'

Roger Federer felt extremely pleased to once again win in front of his home crowd at the Laver Cup in Geneva beating Nick Kyrgios in three sets on Saturday. The Swiss said: “I had goosebumps during the game. I can’t deny that. I’m not immune to it. I’m just very happy that I get to feel this in my home country. The house almost came down, it was that loud. So that was something very special for me.”

The Team World captain John McEnroe believes the guys can come back and win it all on Sunday: “Well, we have been here before. We need to win three out of four", he admitted. “That was big (Saturday’s doubles win), I think, because we would have had to win three and the doubles, so I think we get some momentum. We start with the doubles and hopefully we get a win there and it’s two out of three, and it’s a different story. We are excited. You know, we’re not exactly where we want to be, but we’re still in a reasonably good place.” 

Nick Kyrgios said: "I feel like this is the ultimate event. You’re playing for Europe and playing for the rest of the World", concluded the Australian who will play in Chengdu next week.
