2019 WTA season preview!
The new season of tennis is almost upon us. 2019 will be very interesting because there will be many protagonists in the WTA Tour ready to fight each other to win the most important titles of the year. But who are the favourites and who are the outsiders?
Australian Open My opinion is that the Australian might be the right time for Serena Williams to equal Margaret Court's 24 Grand Slams. The two finals of 2017 and the post-US Open rest period could be the decisive factor. In Melbourne, she could be in optimal form. Motivation, determination and experience are the other skills which Serena needs to achieve this important goal. The other favourite is Simona Halep, while the possible outsider of the tournament is Naomi Osaka.
Roland Garros Another victory for Halep at the French Open could be more than possible. The Romanian, on clay, plays perhaps her best tennis. By now, after not having any pressure after last year's success, she could find it easier to defend her title. Outsider? Sloane Stephens!
Wimbledon Serena Williams is the big favourite. Garbine Muguruza and Petra Kvitova could be the outsiders in the tournament. Beware of Sloane Stephens: if confident, the American could be very dangerous on the grass.
US Open The most unpredictable Slam of the year could have Angelique Kerber as a favourite. Her possible rivals, in addition to Halep and Williams, could be Naomi Osaka and Sloane Stephens and Aryna Sabalenka.
