Andy Murray can play at the highest level again, says Tim Henman
Tim Henman feels confident about Andy Murray's comeback to the top-ranking position The British player is working hard to return at the top, and is set to start his new season at the Brisbane International. Speaking to The Sun, Henman, a former world no. 4, said: 'The last tennis he played prior to the injury, Andy was 2-1 sets up in a Wimbledon quarter-final — pretty much on one leg. So, if he can get back as close as he can to 100 per cent, I feel he can compete at the highest level.'
The Great Britain Davis Cup team captain Leon Smith praised Edmund's potential: 'Kyle has really matured this year. His game is massive, it’s so well placed. He will get better. Kyle has a great mindset. He wants to improve. He has the potential for such a good serve and the forehand is massive. It’s fun to watch.'
In an interview to The Independent, Edmund recalled the 2018 Australian Open run. He reached the semi-finals losing to Marin Cilic: 'I remember going to Melbourne knowing that I had to work really hard. If I go there this time thinking it’s just going to come, it’s not going to happen. You have to put last year’s results out of your mind the best you can and start again from zero. You have to earn your place over and over again. You also have to deal with negativity. Looking back, I was a break down in the fifth set in the first round. I could have lost that. I might be a break down in one of the sets this time. That’s tennis. That’s just normal. You’re allowed to be a break down. It’s not like you’re not allowed to lose your serve or lose a point. It’s going to happen.'
