Cameron Norrie, Stefanos Tsitsipas reflect on their Hopman Cup clash
Great Britain's Cameron Norrie said it "feels great" after picking up a surprise win over Greece's Stefanos Tsitsipas at the Hopman Cup.
The Briton beat 2018 NextGen ATP Finals champion Tsitsipas 7-6 (8) 6-4 in the opening match of the 2019 Hopman Cup.
The Greek saved a set point at 6-5 in the first-set tie-break before he blew his first set point at 7-6 in his favor.
World No. 15 Tsitsipas saved one more set point but couldn't save the third set point as Norrie won a tight opener.
The Greek then blew an early 2-0 second-set lead but broke the Briton in the fifth game to take a 3-2 lead.
However, Norrie stormed back once again as he broke back Tsitsipas in the following game to make it all tied at 3-3 in the second set.
The Briton broke the Greek in the 10th game to seal the win.
"Just to get that first match under my belt and that first win feels great, especially in Perth Arena," Norrie said post-match, per The West Australian.
"Both of us weren't very matched fit and haven't played under the pressure for a few months now."
Tsitsipas admitted to not feeling his best on the court against Norrie as he said: "It was tough to adjust. From the very beginning, I felt uncomfortable, I don't know why. Probably because of the weather conditions. In general, I felt a bit tired. I will try to understand why I felt like this."
Norrie plays next against Swiss Roger Federer, while Tsitsipas will be taking on USA's Frances Tiafoe.
