Janko Tipsarevic, 34, to continue professional career

Serbian tennis player Janko Tipsarevic is planning to continue his professional career.

The 34-year-old has had lots of health issues in recent years.

Former world No. 8 Tipsarevic hasn't played since losing in the US Open second round to Argentine Diego Schwartzman in 2017.

The Serb called it a 2017 season after the US Open to undergo a surgery on both hamstrings before he underwent yet another leg surgery in March.

In an Instagram post at the beginning of October, the Serb hinted that he may retire as he said: "In the next few months I will make a decision (on) what my professional future brings."

However, the 34-year-old wants to give tennis another shot as he is set to open his season in Doha and play the Australian Open.

Tipsarevic doesn't have a ranking at the moment but he entered Doha and the Australian Open by using a protected ranking of No. 85.

Meanwhile, the Serb's recent Instagram posts and Instagram stories suggest that he has been working hard this offseason to get himself ready for the new season.

Tipsarevic has missed a full tennis season for the second time in his career as he didn't play a single match in 2014.

The Serb has won four ATP titles so far in his career and made back-to-back US Open quarter-finals in 2011 and 2012.
