Kyle Edmund ready and happy to start new season in Australia
Rising British star Kyle Edmund is ready to kick off his 2019 campaign in Australia.
The 23-year-old is due to play his first ATP event of the new season at the Brisbane International.
The Briton, who debuted at the Brisbane event in 2017, is set to make his third consecutive appearance at the tournament.
Edmund made the quarter-final stage in both of his previous two Brisbane appearances.
The 23-year-old lost to three-time Grand Slam champion Stan Wawrinka at the Brisbane International in 2017 and to Bulgaria's Grigor Dimitrov in 2018 respectively.
Edmund, seeded at No. 3 in the Brisbane main draw, will have a first-round bye at the tournament.
The world No. 14 will be meeting a qualifier in the round-of-16.
Edmund was placed in the same half of the draw with defending Brisbane champion Nick Kyrgios, 2017 champion Dimitrov and 2017 runner-up Kei Nishikori.
The Briton could potentially meet home-favourite Kyrgios in the quarter-final and then Dimitrov or Nishikori in the semi-final.
Edmund will certainly be motivated to put on another good Brisbane campaign and potentially win it all despite the presence of world No. 2 Rafael Nadal.
Anyways, Edmund is happy to be in Australia as he reached his maiden Grand Slam semi-final at the Australian Open in 2018.
Edmund's January schedule includes the Brisbane International, Sydney International and Australian Open.
“Every time you come here, there's a buzz in Australia to start a new season... And I have great memories here, too," Edmund said, per the Brisbane International Twitter account.
