Roger Federer: I will breathe air also if I don't win 100th career-title

Roger Federer missed the chance to win his 100th career-title both at the Rolex Paris Masters and ATP Finals, where he lost to Novak Djokovic and Alexander Zverev respectively, in the semi-finals. This is not a major issue per se for Federer. 'I don't need it, but go ahead. I will breathe air also if I don't,' said the Swiss about the chance of winning his 100th title.

Federer got his seventh highest match win-rate in the season ever, winning 84.3% of the matches played. Only in 2005 (95.4%), 2006 (94%), 2004 (91.5%), 2017 (90.3%), 2007 (87.5%) and 2014 (86.2%) he got a higher percentage. He just had his 20th season as tennis professional.

The 37-year-old also praised Zverev: 'He is obviously a good player, so clearly there's all the chances there to win. There's only one match left. He's a top-five player. There you go. He's got what it takes to win against anybody. I think you make a bigger deal of the situation after the Australian Open than it actually was. It was a tap on the shoulder, just a little cheering up rather than like a full-on session of me getting into his head and telling him, It's all good. Maybe it was a bigger deal for him. But for me it was something very short. Just trying to cheer him up a little bit after a tough loss.'

Zverev, who was booed in his semi-final against Federer went on to win the title against Novak Djokovic.
