Serena Williams: 'Roger Federer and I just love the sport'
Serena Williams and Roger Federer have been the most successful 37-year-old players. The two are set to meet each other at the Hopman Cup in mixed doubles as the American pairs up with Frances Tiafoe, while Federer will play alongside Belinda Bencic. 'Roger and I, we both have such a passion for the game', said Serena. 'We've been playing for a really long time. We both just love the sport. You can tell when he plays that he loves the sport. I think that's something that we both have in common.'
How about in style of play, what are the biggest differences? 'Well, I don't have a one-handed backhand, and he does. There are obviously so many different things. I think you're better off to answer that one.'
Serena also spoke about her faith: 'I'm a Jehovah's Witness. If you don't believe in God -- I think if you don't believe in God, it's going to be tough to live life because pretty much that's the basis of life, it comes from God. And so being a Jehovah's Witness, obviously we believe in God and the Bible. And without Him, I wouldn't be here right now. I really thank Him for everything. I've been blessed really. People are sick, just born with just disorders, and I've been blessed to be born, you know, pretty much healthy. So I really -- that's basically what I mean.'
