Tomas Berdych, Feliciano Lopez become Hydrogen ambassadors

Feliciano Lopez had a disappointing 2018 season but he but he is still a lucrative prospect for brands. The Spanish player ended his deal with Ellesse, that provided him with his outfits since 2016 (before that he used Joma), and has switched to Hydrogen. Both companies are from Italy. Also Tomas Berdych, who was wearing H&M and who played wearing Adidas this year, switched to Hydrogen. The Spaniard and the Czech were announced as new ambassadors in Milan by the designer company Alberto Bresci. At the end of the year, Fabio Fognini's contract with Hydrogen will end, the 31-year-old will wear Emporio Armani. Lopez holds the record among men for most consecutive Grand Slam main draw appearances: 67.

What's the future of the Madrid Open without Federer and Rafael Nadal? Interviewed by AS, Lopez said: 'I played all the editions in different times and when we started it was a boost in Madrid. In the beginning, you had no hope that it would continue in the city and now it's at a solid point. Here Agassi, Ferrero, Nadal's breakthrough happened... The tournament survived thanks to everyone and everything. Rafa playing a Masters 1000 in Spain helps, although if you sign the contract until 2031, it will continue to be a solid event regardless of the eras. I am confident that within a few weeks it will be announced that the tournament will continue in Madrid for many more years.'

Berdych will play the Qatar Open in Doha and the ASB Classic in Auckland prior to the Australian Open.
