2019 will be more difficult for Roger Federer and Rafa Nadal: Ferrero

In an interview during the Champions Tour event in London in December 2018, the former world no. 1 Juan Carlos Ferrero commented on how Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal will do in 2019. Ferrero thinks the two legends may be able to compete at the highest level, but they will have to make an even bigger effort as younger players come up. 'We were all surprised by both Federer and Nadal last season. It was surprising they got such good results,' the 38-year-old Spaniard said. 'They are players that always get to the final rounds of a Grand Slam. Looking ahead to next season, we always say that it's one more year and every time it's more difficult but they always reach the final rounds. I think next season will be a little more difficult.'

On his Australian Open memories, "Mosquito" added: 'I have big and good memories. This is a tournament where my best result was playing in the semifinals against Federer... I have played in the quarter-finals three times. It was a tournament that I liked a lot to play. Maybe one of the quickest tournaments of the year, with regard to other Grand Slams. In Roland Garros there are so many people, it's the same at Wimbledon and the US Open. Maybe, as the Australian Open is far away from we lived, we saw less people and it was a little bit more quiet. But is it a very enjoyable tournament, because we are coming from cold weather, in Spain, and you have warm temperatures again. People are really nice, Australian people are very kind and friendly. So it is a very nice tournament to start the season.'
