'Anything is possible' - Navratilova backs Nadal, Djokovic to catch Federer

Martina Navratilova believes that both Novak Djokovic and Rafael Nadal can catch Roger Federer's 20 Grand Slam titles record. Speaking in an interview, Navratilova said: "Oh Jesus, I can’t be talking about that! It’s definitely possible, they are young enough. When I was playing at 30 it was all like “when are you going to stop playing, when are you going to retire?” and now at 31 they’re like hitting their stride, they don’t have to answer those questions. It’s nice that the longevity has extended so much. They play less, they take better care of their bodies, they’re spoilt rotten, flying private etc. The first time I flew to Australia it took me 40 hours to get here! It’s great the players are able to prolong their careers so we’ll see. It depends on how much the young ones also come up and improve if they start pushing on the door. Anything is possible."

Before the match started, the former world No. 2 Tommy Haas had said: “What a match, there’s a lot at stake. Looking down the road at what Djokovic may be able still to do, and not knowing if Rafa is going to stay healthy for another two to three years, how many slams is he going to still be playing. But the way Rafa’s playing right now, he’s probably already going into the French Open as a favorite, so if he wins another slam there and if he wins tonight, then he gets closer to Roger. I’m sure Roger’s thinking about that. And the same thing for Novak, if he wins tonight, he’s at 15, and what else can he do this year still? Just a lot of exciting things going on. It’s definitely one match you’ll happily get up for and watch from the first point till the end."
