Davis Cup captain praises Alexander Zverev for his availability

Germany's Davis Cup team captain Michael Kohlmann looks forward to the tie between the country and Hungary on February 1 and 2 at the Frankfurt Arena. Alexander Zverev, Philipp Kohlschreiber, Jan-Lennard Struff, Peter Goyowczyk and Tim Putz have been selected. 'It's a big thing to play in front of a packed crowd at the Fraport Arena', admitted Kohlmann. 'It speaks of the growing team spirit for us and our guys' desire to play home. We will start strong because our goal is to clearly qualify for Madrid finals. It will definitely be a celebration for the Frankfurt spectators and we are looking to give our best in a unique atmosphere.'

On Zverev playing the tie, Kohlmann added: 'It's not something granted that Sascha declared himself available for this tie despite the difficulties of the Tour.'

Asked if after winning the ATP Finals in London Zverev should have taken a long break, he replied: 'But then when do you prepare yourself physically? You can't really do it in the season. That's the only time. So you kind of have to – you know, you have to adjust. It's always a give and takes. If the season is 11 months long, it's always that kind of give and takes in what you do, how you rest, and how much work you put in. That's just how it is for us tennis players.'

The Hamburg native, who resides in Monte Carlo, will then play in Rotterdam and Acapulco in February.
