Roger Federer should retire on his own terms, says Andre Agassi
In an interview to Radio Deejay, the eight-time Grand Slam winner Andre Agassi commented on Roger Federer's future retirement from tennis. The former American player believes Federer should end his career when he wants to. Agassi retired in 2006 due to injuries: 'I did have no choice. Everybody has a different journey at this stage in their life, but for me my body told me it was finished and when it comes to Federer he has accomplished so many wonderful things in behalf of our sport and himself that he deserves to go on his own terms, in a certain place, in a certain time, when he feels he cannot win. But it's different for everybody.'
But when the 37-year-old Swiss could retire? 'I stopped predicting Federer a lot many years ago', Agassi said referring on the many unexpected successes the Swiss got.'
On Federer's loss to John Millman at last year's US Open, Agassi concluded: 'The only way to beat Federer was to play different and be disciplined. Federer approached the match thinking he could win the tournament, he thought about the whole picture, not just that match. Millman played aggressive, took chances and risks.'
Agassi also spoke about his activity with his Foundation: 'For me, it was about finding ways to promote education and giving them opportunities.'
