Rotterdam Open - Entry List: Roger Federer won't play, Zverev leads the way
A star-stunned field is set for the 46th edition of the ABN Amro World Tennis Tournament in Rotterdam from 11 to 17 February 2019. The Dutch event will feature three top ten players: Alexander Zverev, Marin Cilic and Kei Nishikori. The German will definitely want to go far after losing to David Ferrer in the second round last year. Cilic reached the final here in 2014, while Nishikori comes back to play in Netherlands for the first time in. The Paris Masters winner Karen Khachanov will definitely be among the favorites to win the title, as well as Daniil Medvedev, who won his maiden ATP 500 title at the Rakuten Open in Tokyo last year, and the defending finalist Grigor Dimitrov who lost to Roger Federer in a straight-set championship clash.
As Richard Krajicek, who has been the Tournament Director since 2004, had told Tennis World USA, Federer did not commit to play but he could still require a wild card like he did last year. That was a worth choice for the 20-time Major winner who cameback as world No. 1 defeating Robin Haase in a three-set quarter-final match. Federer will lose 500 ATP Rankings Points, but he may recover them if he commits to the Dubai Duty Free Tennis Championship in late February. Nick Kyrgios will try to make his first appearance, the Australian withdrew both in 2017 and 2018. The 2015 champion Stan Wawrinka will get a main draw wild card, and the 2014 winner Tomas Berdych may play as well through an invitation. January and February will be two important months for Andreas Seppi, who will try to defend the Australian Open fourth round and Rotterdam semifinals. In the last year's Dutch event, the Italian lost to Federer. Here below full main draw entry list, the world No. 40 Jeremy Chardy is the first alternate. Robin Haase is the fourth alternate, but his appearance was already confirmed by the tournament and he will ask for a wild card in case he needs it.
