Tickets for Federer-Williams match were sold straight away -Kilderry

The Hopman Cup Tournament Director Paul Kilderry feels satisfied with how the tickets sale has gone so far. It has been known since early October that Serena Williams and Roger Federer would face off in a mixed doubles match on January 1 in the night session, and fans did not wait long to pick their seat on the grounds. 'We stopped selling tickets after a few days so we might release a few more but it basically sold out straight away', said Kilderry. 'Two of arguably the biggest stars on the planet in any sport playing against each other is going to be amazing and the interest level is going to be all around global tennis. Everyone is going to have a peek and see what happens, so it’s really exciting and it’s going to be huge.'

Federer felt happy with how he started his 2019 Hopman Cup run in Perth. The Swiss player defeated Cameron Norrie 6-1 6-1 after just 57 minutes. In an interview, the Swiss said the way to the title defence will not be easy. 'I’m ready to go. This was a great start but we’ve got a long, long way to go here and in Melbourne', admitted the Basel native. 'It’s nice that I’m feeling as good as I am and I played a wonderful match against Cameron who I thought also played a great match against Stefanos Tsitsipas so that was quality tennis tonight.'
