'Winning Wimbledon is tougher than Australian Open for Federer' - Wilander

Roger Federer turns 38 in August. Could he win a Grand Slam title again? In an interview to Tages Anzeiger, the seven-time Grand Slam winner Mats Wilander replied this question. 'I think so. The conditions were faster here in the last years. And they would have been much faster if it was hotter. It was sunny, below 20C. I know these nights are terrible. If you have less power than your opponent, the effects you make with the ball do not work. It's not this way that Federer or Nadal play tennis. The two play to get the maximum from the ball. Roger did not move bad, he did not open bad. But he was not well-worthed for his serve and finesse. On these days you will be re-worth for not being afraid - bang bang. And he does not do it'.

Can Federer win Wimbledon again? 'Absolutely. However, I think he has some better chances here. At Wimbledon, it's tougher to hit the ball on top because of the grass. He could win again because he is so good. But the grass makes you take more risks.'

How could Federer waste 12 break points on 12 against Stefanos Tsitsipas at the Australian Open? Wilander explained it. 'He maybe was too defensive. But for me, that match was not a big problem. Opponents were improving, hitting harder. Tsitsipas upset him, even because he surprised me taking so many risks. When you play against such an opponent, you are like: "Holy sh*..". I did not think he would play so aggressive, so risky, and then he manages to do it so much.'
