ATP Doubles: Dominic Thiem, Diego Schwartzman crushed in Buenos Aires final
Austrian Dominic Thiem and Argentina's Diego Schwartzman have fallen short of winning it all together at the Argentina Open.
No. 1 seeds Maximo Gonzalez and Horacio Zeballos demolished Thiem and Schwartzman in the Buenos Aires final 6-1 6-1.
Both pairs were tied at 1-1 after the opening two games but then Gonzalez and Zeballos won the following two games to dominantly win the first set.
Gonzalez and Zeballos lost the opening game of the second set but then won six games in a row to seal the win after just 49 minutes of action.
Gonzalez and Zeballos converted 5-of-6 of their break point chances and saved 3-of-3 of Thiem and Schwartzman's break point opportunities to win their first team title.
Earlier today, Schwartzman suffered a straight-set defeat to Italy's Marco Cecchinato in the Buenos Aires singles final.
Elsewhere, French Jeremy Chardy and Henri Kontinen won it all at the ABN AMRO World Tennis Tournament, while Germany's Kevin Krawietz and Andreas Mies made it all the way at the New York Open.
Chardy, 32, and 28-year-old Kontinen edged out Jean-Julien Rojer and Horia Tecau in a tight Rotterdam final 7-6 (5) 7-6 (4) to win a title in their debut appearance as a pair.
Chardy and Kontinen failed to serve out for the first set in the ninth game and blew a set point in the following game but kept their focus as they converted their third set point in the tie-break to claim the opener.
Chardy and Kontinen were 2-4 down in the second set tie-break when they won five points in a row to clinch a straight-set win and avoid a decider.
Chardy and Kontinen hit seven aces, won 83 percent of their first serve points, converted just 1-of-5 of their break point chances but also saved 5-of-6 of Rojer and Tecau's break point opportunities in an hour and 40 minutes of play.
In the New York doubles final, Krawietz and Mies handed a straight-set defeat to Mexican Santiago Gonzalez Pakistan's Aisam-Ul-Haq Qureshi 6-4 7-5.
Krawietz and Mies made the most out the break they earned in the seventh game of the first set and the 11th game of the second set respectively.
Krawietz and Mies won 87 percent of their first serve points, converted 2-of-5 of their break point chances and saved the lone break point they faced on their way to winning their maiden team title at the ATP level.
Krawietz, 27, and 28-year-old Mies didn't drop a single set this week as they claimed four wins in straight sets to win the title in style.
