The tennis expert David Law believes that Novak Djokovic has more chances than Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal to win the Wimbledon title in July this year. The Serb last triumphed at the All England Club in 2015 defeating the Swiss in a four-set final. Djokovic has won all the last 21 Grand Slam matches played having conquered Wimbledon, US Open and Australian Open. “The absolute favourite for Wimbledon is Novak Djokovic. Roger Federer is with Rafael Nadal probably next I would say", said Law speaking on The Tennis Podcast.
On the contrary of his colleague Catherine Whitaker, Law believes that the recent results in the tournament by Federer and Nadal are not too relevant: 'What, Roger Federer’s five-set loss to Kevin Anderson? And Rafael Nadal reaching the semi-finals and losing 10-8 in the fifth? So no I don’t have to, based on recent history and the form Roger Federer has been in recently, no I don’t think I do. I don't think he is ahead of Nadal."
Law also commented on the co-operation between Alexander Zverev and Ivan Lendl that started last year in July. “I do feel that Lendl will want to give it enough time to feel he’s given it a proper chance. I remember us talking about this briefly after the US Open, we were taken back by his defeat there [vs Philipp Kohlschreiber]. When we had Goran Ivanisevic on the podcast during the Australian Open he was talking about how Lendl and Andy Murray were the perfect fit, he was not convinced this one necessarily will be. I will be surprised whether they will have split before the end of the year. I certainly think we will see another three Slams out of that partnership but I’m far from convinced [by Zverev].”
