Fabio Fognini: I'd buy a ticket to watch Roger Federer play
In an interview with Globo Esporte, Fabio Fognini shared who is the tennis player he would want to watch. "Like many, I think that watching (Roger) Federer playing is very nice. If I went to a tournament, I would pay a ticket to watch Federer," said Fognini.
Reflecting on how his life changed since he became a father, the Arma di Taggia native added: "A lot has changed, travelling costs me more. I also see life in a different way. I have a bigger external responsibility (on-court). And obviously, I play for him. I like the sport, the competition. And on the other side nothing more. I would like to be healthy until the end of my career."
Reflecting on his career, Fognini, who recently equalled his career-high ranking at no. 13, hopes to crack the top 10. He knows that one day he will stop playing tennis: "I am closer to my retirement than at the beginning of my career. It (has been) a career with many ups and down. I could have done much more than I did. On one hand, I regret it, on the other, I do not. I have always been Fabio Fognini, the one that everybody knows, always the same. Both on-court and off."
Fognini had a poor South American swing losing in the opening round of all three tournaments he played. He is set to play Indian Wells and Miami Masters next.
