Roger Federer playing in Dubai is bad for Acapulco, says Zurutuza

The Acapulco Open Tournament Director Raul Zurutuza commented on Roger Federer not playing the Mexican tournament. Federer last competed in a country's event in a junior tournament back in 1996, and this year he is committed to play the Dubai Duty Free Tennis Championship. 'We always invited Mr Federer, I think we sent correct messages and we always respected the commitment he has with Dubai, and him playing there is good for him and bad for us, but we cannot change these things'and hopefully one day he can come to us', said Zurutuza.

On Rafael Nadal making his comeback, Zurutuza added: "Rafael comes with a lot of willingness, he told it to us, he openly spoke about it, and before leaving Acapulco last year he told us, "We see you next year, definitely, so we are very happy, he is world No. 2, he is a show guaranteed and I think he took his recovery in a very serious way and he will have no problems to come to Acapulco being fit and willing to win the title."
