What happened in US Open final is behind us,says Serena Williams's coach

Serena Williams' coach Patrick Mouratoglou feels doubtful that the next generation will be able to take over the Big 3 players - Novak Djokovic, Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal - anytime soon. Speaking to Super Express, Mouratoglou said: "The old guard keeps being at the top. Nadal won the Roland Garros again, Federer showed to be still very strong, and Djokovic cameback to the top position in a great style. These three players dominated the men's tennis so much in the last 15 years that it's difficult for me to imagine that somebody will be able to threat them. They are still looking for consistency in the major tournaments."

Mouratoglou also reflected on Serena's US Open final loss to Naomi Osaka: "That loss was, obviously, a big disappointment for Serena because she worked hard to be in a good shape again after giving birth to her daughter. She was unbelievably ambitious. For her, every failure is a hard shot, even a Grand Slam final. However, what happened at the US Open is already behind us. Serena is already focusing on her next goals."

Asked how the 23-time Major winner is able to make her game evolve despite being 37 years old, the Frenchman concluded: "The top players can find ways to keep having success over the years. Since I met Serena, she always did everything to be better and better. It was thanks to that approach that she was able to face the next generation of rivals for many years."
