Zverev brothers to play doubles in Acapulco

German tennis superstar Alexander Zverev will play doubles with his brother Mischa Zverev at the Mexican Open in Acapulco.

The Zverev brothers are set to play doubles together for the first time this season.

They haven't played together since ending runners-up at the Swiss Indoors Basel in October.

The Zverevs will be bidding to win their second team title on the hard courts of Acapulco.

However, it won't be easy as the ATP 500 event in Acapulco is set to feature a star-studded doubles player field.

The Bryan brothers, Jamie Murray and Bruno Soares, Juan Sebastian Cabal and Robert Farah, Lukasz Kubot and Marcelo Melo, Marcel Granollers and Nikola Mektic, as well as Feliciano Lopez and Marc Lopez, have all been confirmed for the Acapulco event.

The Zverev brothers have proved more than capable of playing a good tennis together, having reached six ATP doubles final.

Yet, they have won just one ATP doubles title together.

Alexander, 21, and 31-year-old Mischa won their maiden team doubles title at the Open Sud de France in 2017 after beating Fabrice Martin and Daniel Nestor in the Montpellier final.

The Zverev brothers lost their maiden team final at the BMW Open in Munich against Alexander Peya and Soares four years ago.

The Zverevs also ended runners-up twice at the Gerry Weber Open in Halle, and once at the Open Sud de France and Swiss Indoors Basel respectively.

The Acapulco event is due to take place from February 25 - March 02.
