'Fans can see Rafael Nadal practice up close in Indian Wells' - Haas

Tommy Haas is enjoying his experience at the BNP Paribas Open as Tournament Director in Indian Wells. The former world No. 2 took this role in 2016 and this year the event was attended by a record 475,000 people. “I think for the players' point of view, just being in that area is always sort of special. You have a chance to see Rafa Nadal practice up close or Serena Williams, Maria Sharapova, so you just have that special type of experience", Haas told Tennis View Magazine.

Another former player, James Blake, is the Miami Open Tournament Director. “Now the big challenge is the move over to the Hard Rock stadium and figuring out all the logistics of the new place", said Blake. "It's gonna be a few growing pains, but I think the payoff will be the fans, the players, the media, everyone's going to have a much better experience here at Hard Rock Stadium. It's been a lot of fun learning as part of a team, it's a little different because you're used to being an individual, you go out there and perform on your own [as a player]."
