Greg Rusedski: Felix Auger-Aliassime reminds me of right-handed Rafa

Former British tennis star Greg Rusedski says rising Canadian star Felix Auger-Aliassime reminds him of "a righthanded Rafael Nadal."

Auger-Aliassime, who is still just 18 years old, continues to impress as he has been through to the BNP Paribas Open third round.

The Canadian put on an impressive display against No. 9 seed Stefanos Tsitsipas this Saturday as he pushed this year's Australian Open semi-finalist 6-4 6-2.

World No. 58 Auger-Aliassime got the first break of the match when he broke 10th-ranked Tsitsipas in the third game to take a first-set 2-1 lead.

The Canadian was heavily pressured in the following game but saved a total of six points to take a 3-1 lead.

The 18-year-old then routinely held on to his serve as the Greek didn't have more first-set break point chances.

Auger-Aliassime made a good start to the second set as well, having broken Tsitsipas in the third game.

Tsitsipas' game fell apart after failing to convert a break point in the sixth game as the Canadian got his second break of the set to take a 5-2 lead.

The Canadian then routinely served out for the match as he converted his first match point to seal the win.

"A new star has announced himself with his first top-10 win against Stefanos Tsitsipas at the BNP Paribas Open. Auger-Aliassime reminds me of a righthanded Rafael Nadal. It's not if he becomes a top 10, it's when. The real deal," Rusedski wrote on Twitter.

Auger-Aliassime plays next the winner of the match between Roberto Bautista Agut and Yoshihito Nishioka.
