I never thought about retiring from tennis, says Rafael Nadal
Did Rafael Nadal ever think about retiring from tennis? The Spaniard answered this question in an interview with IoDonna. "So far never. I am a positive person and if I got injured I never thought about not being able to recover. Then of course you need to be calm and patient", said Nadal.
How does he get back from a loss? "First of all, I do not think about it all the time. Otherwise, you cannot play anymore. My first goal is to feel well, being on the court the way I have to. And then we see how it goes."
On his book, he said that learning from his uncle Toni, he learned to deal with the suffering all the time. How does he do it? "First of all, I do not deal with it all days. That would not be possible. But there are moments when you feel tired, where you are not fit. So you have to overcome it, which is the biggest challenge."
On the Next Generation players, Nadal added: "I see passionate and very motivated young guys. There are definitely some future champions but they cannot win straight forward. In tennis, you cannot be in a rush."
Will Nadal try to make his eventual children becoming professionals through a strict training regime? "Nope. If I will be a father, and I do not know when it happens, I would like them to play a sport. Then if they want to do it as professionals, it's another thing."
