'Naomi Osaka is just 21 years old. She will be fine' - Paul Annacone
Speaking on Tennis Channel Paul Annacone commented on the split between Naomi Osaka and her coach Sascha Bajin. The former Roger Federer's coach said that this decision may affect Osaka, who hired Jermaine Jenkins as her new coach. "She is an incredible runner and one of the things we forget is that she is 21 years old and a 21-year-old is trying to figure out, How do I communicate with my coach, how do I manage this and the coach has to figure out what messages to send when how and why", said Annacone. "It is a very complex dynamic. So with the younger players, if the coaches don't know how to navigate that communication doesn't matter what the message is. So there was a disconnect and I think that Naomi is trying to get herself established but she is a great player, ultimately it comes down to the player. Us coaches have to figure out how to press the right buttons and I think she will be fine."
Jim Courier commented on the split between Simona Halep and Darren Cahill: "For Darren, this was a family decision, he has some children who he wants to spend some really important time with instead of being on the road, so for him, that was the decision. There was not a problem with Simona, this is what he said and I certainly believe him, he is an honest shooter."
At last year's Indian Wells the Japanese player went all the way beating Daria Kasatkina in the final to win her maiden career-title.
