"He physically struggled, he was barely breathing and he was hitting flat shots and he was playing being far away from the baseline, which gave the German many chances to win rallies. On Djokovic reaching the Indian Wells semifinals with Fabio Fognini, Volandri added: "It's nice to see Novak being still smiley and joking during the doubles match with Fabio. That's good for them because there is plenty of time left prior to the Miami Open."

On all the buzz around the ATP Chief Executive Chris Kermode's leave, Volandri added: "It's an ongoing matter. Someone will have to replace Kermode so you will speak a lot about it."

On Fabio Fognini's disappointing campaign in Indian Wells, he shared: "Fabio and Flavia told me he is training well but he lacks some happiness in doing what he does in training also in matches."

On Raonic defeating the qualifier Marcus Giron in three sets, Volandri concluded: "Milos struggled a lot, he was pretty slow moving even if he still managed to hit powerful shots in some complicated rallies."
