People forget Nick Kyrgios is still young, says Boris Becker

Boris Becker feels confident about the future of tennis. During the Laureus Sports Awards, the six-time Major winner mentioned some of the most promising young players. "I see Germany with a good player, Sascha Zverev, but I see Russians have a couple of great players - Khachanov, Rublev - are great. Shapovalov from Canada is very good. You have a couple of 19, 20, 21-year-olds that are knocking in at the door and they get better and better and it's a question of time when they overtake. Nick Kyrgios is very young, people forget it, so it's an exciting group of players, Dominic Thiem is another one who is always there and they are very good. They are five, six in the world and it's a question of time when they will be one or two or three", said the 51-year-old. On Michael Stich leaving the Hamburg tournament board, Becker added: "I am a little surprised because I have not a lot of contacts with him. I think his job as the Hamburg Tournament Director was done well, but there are reasons - that can be explained by the President and the Vice President - why that did not work. There were a lot of problems. Michael is fighting to understand that you are strong only if you are in a group. That was the problem in Hamburg." When will Alexander Zverev win his first Grand Slam? "He is not that far away, but as I said before, the next steps are tougher because they are less little. The competition does not sleep. This year where was a Stefanos Tsitsipas, an Alex De Minaur, all the players of his generation. Karen Khachanov is as old as Sascha and he made unbelievable progress. That's the future competition and it improved significantly. But you have to establish yourself and if Khachanov will win the Paris Masters again, it means he will have done well."
