Sofia Kenin leads American women's tennis hopes anew

A new star is born for the US women's tennis, and its name is Sofia Kenin. With her, American women's tennis looks like it has another generation of victories and results. An order that currently has three generations: Old Gen, with Serena and Venus Williams, the Middle Gen, with Sloane Stephens, and the NextGen, with Kenin and Amanda Anisimova.

Kenin is demonstrating all her skills and all her potential in 2019. Since the beginning of the season, she has been achieving positive results, excellent placements, and consistent and convincing performances, with the first career title.

She started the year in Auckland, where she was defeated in the second round by Viktoria Kuzmova. She got her first WTA title in Hobart, where she defeated Anna Karolina Schmiedlova in the final. At the Australian Open, she reached the second round, eliminated by Simona Halep.

After the third round reached and lost in Dubai against Viktoria Kuzmova, she reached the final in Acapulco, where she lost against Yafan Wang. In Indian Wells, she was defeat by Elina Svitolina in the second round, after a three-set battle.

It cannot be just a case if, at 20, she has already reached two WTA finals in 2019, winning one and losing the other. Her technical skills blend perfectly with mental solidity. Despite this, Kenin will have to greatly improve her athletic shape and, in general, the fundamental aspects of her tennis, so as to be able to extend the generational change of women's US tennis and continue to improve tournament after tournament.
