Tennis wasn't a priority for Novak Djokovic in Indian Wells, says pundit
Sky Sport pundit Raffaella Reggi believes that Novak Djokovic did not have the best preparation heading into the Indian Wells tournament. The Serb was involved in politics following closely the ATP President Chris Kermode's leave. Roger Federer said Djokovic did not have time to speak with him about this topic, which turned popular. "He was pretty nervous in Indian Wells, he was focusing on extra tennis things. This year Grand Slams are the priority for him, that's the goal, but losing matches like this is not the best in terms of confidence. A step back is okay, but now I expect something better from Novak, also in terms of calmness. In order to achieve the Calendar Grand Slam, he needs to think match by match on a mental side because otherwise you could get influenced by it", said Reggi.
On the Next Generation players competing in Miami, Reggi added: "What impresses me the most about these younger players is the attitude. That's what Tseng does although he was on the big stage and he was tense. He stayed in the match, he has an incredible story, his mother sold sweets and he overcame big challenges. He is also helped by Patrick Mouratoglou."
