Tommy Haas reveals why Roger Federer's wife ended her tennis career

In an interview to Sport.cz, the former world No. 2 Tommy Haas commented on how Mirka Federer plays a key role in Roger's career. 'As a former tennis player, be understands a professional athlete's life. Injuries didn't allow her to continue her career and she always loved Roger. She appreciates him. It would be much more difficult without her', said Haas.

Haas added: 'Mirka has been in his team since the beginning. In the 2000 Sydney Olympics semifinals, Roger was overtaken. He then lost the silver medal match, he left with no medals, then he and Mirka came back together.'

Haas commented on the world No. 4 Alexander Zverev's potential: 'His family has a lot of experience since also his older brother Mischa Zverev is a very good player. Alexander already confirmed his enormous potential. He is tall, he has amazing shots from the back of the court and he is self-confident. And he can still improve a lot. He will definitely win Grand Slam titles.'

About the successful co-operation between Marian Vajda and Novak Djokovic, Haas concluded: 'Marian has a lot of knowledge on tennis. He and Nole have built a relationship based on big confidence. They achieved unbelievable things together. Djokovic delivered consistent performances and some of his seasons stayed in the tennis history. Marian is like (Dominic) Hrbaty, both give their best on the court.'
