ATP Geneva - Entry list: Daniil Medvedev and Fabio Fognini lead the field
Staged at the Tennis Club de Genève at the Parc des Eaux-Vives, the oldest and largest tennis club in Switzerland, the Banque Eric Sturdza Geneva Open had returned to the ATP calendar in 2015 after being previously held between 1980-1991. Bjorn Borg (his last ATP title), Mats Wilander and Thomas Muster had all won the title there before that 24 years of absence, and it was Thomas Bellucci who claimed the first event on the return in 2015. Stan Wawrinka grabbed two titles in 2016 and 2017 while Marton Fucsovics went all the way last May, returning to Geneva as one of the top favorites in a month and a half.
Daniil Medvedev and Fabio Fognini are the only players from the top-30 signed to play Geneva at the moment, with the Italian losing in the semi-final a year ago and the Russian who will make a debut in Geneva. Laslo Djere, Marton Fucsovics and Philipp Kohlschreiber represent the remaining players from the top-40 and there are some other dangerous players ready to chase deep run and big points. Joao Sousa, Radu Albot and Andreas Seppi complete the top-50 group, with Matthew Ebden, Matteo Berrettini, Adrian Mannarino and Mackenzie McDonald waiting for a chance to defeat some of the favorites and gain the momentum before Roland Garros.
Jaume Munar, Leonardo Mayer and Juan Ignacio Londero should be very dangerous if they bring their 'A game' and some solid players are waiting to make the main draw as qualifiers as well. Jordan Thompson, Pablo Andujar, Christian Garin, Federico Delbonis, Hugo Dellien and Ivo Karlovic should try to qualify for the main draw, giving the crowd a chance to see some high-quality matches from the very first day.
