ATP Lyon - Entry list: John Isner and Milos Raonic headline the action
The third edition of the Open Parc Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes Lyon will take play in the week before Roland Garros, serving as the last test for 28 players in preparation for the second Grand Slam of the season. The defending champion Dominic Thiem was on the official poster together with the inaugural winner Jo-Wilfried Tsonga but he has decided not to play in Lyon, despite the fact it gave him the momentum a year ago to advance into the first Roland Garros final. That means John Isner will be the top seed, competing in Lyon for the second year in a row and seeking the better result than in 2018 when Cameron Norrie toppled him in the quarter-final.
After the semi-final run in 2017, Milos Raonic should be the second seed behind Isner, looking to make the last corrections before Roland Garros and to build the momentum before the trip to Paris. Nikoloz Basilashvili and Roberto Bautista Agut are in the draw as well, completing the top-30 list at the moment and hoping to keep their positions in the rankings until Lyon and avoid to play in the first round. Super talented Canadian Felix Auger-Aliassime is one of the latest editions by organizers, making his debut in Lyon after a fantastic run so far in 2019 that propelled him into the top-40.
2017 champion Jo-Wilfried Tsonga uses a protected ranking to enter the draw ahead of Steve Johnson, John Millman, Jeremy Chardy, Jan-Lennard Struff and Pierre-Hugues Herbert. The last year's semi-finalist Cameron Norrie, Hubert Hurkacz, Reilly Opelka, Tomas Berdych and Taylor Fritz round-up the entry list, with some great players hoping to reach the main draw through the qualifying draw. Ugo Humbert, Benoit Paire, Pablo Andujar and Federico Delbonis should all try to qualify for the main draw and chase the last points before Roland Garros.
