Cameron Norrie withdraws from Estoril, place opens for Ernests Gulbis

Rising British star Cameron Norrie has withdrawn from the Estoril Open

Norrie, 23, won't be making his second appearance on the clay of Estoril.

The Briton debuted at the Estoril event last year when he made the round-of-16 before losing to Spain's Roberto Carballes Baena.

Norrie, ranked at his career-high ranking of No. 45 in the world, is set to take a rest as he has played in each of the opening three weeks of this clay season.

Following the withdrawal of Norrie, a place in the Estoril main draw has opened for Latvian Ernests Gulbis.

However, it remains to be seen if world No. 78 Gulbis will make his Estoril debut next week as he still may choose to play in Munich.

Former world No. 10 Gulbis tried to make the Estoril main draw through the qualifying event in 2017 but fell short in his attempt as he was beaten in the qualifying final round.

Meanwhile, world No. 44 Radu Albot has pulled out from Munich.

The 29-year-old was expected to make his Munich debut this year as he has never played at the tournament.

Albot will be replaced by Romania's Marius Copil, who is set to make his third main draw appearance on the clay of Munich.

World No. 80 Copil lost to Roberto Bautista Agut in the Munich round-of-16 in 2017 before he picked up a first-round loss at the tournament last year.
