Eugenie Bouchard and Michael Joyce part ways after six months

A former world no. 5 and Wimbledon finalist Eugenie Bouchard has not been able to fulfill her full potential in the last couple of years, struggling with form and injuries and never reaching the WTA final after Kuala Lumpur in 2016. The Canadian started the previous season working with Harold Solomon and that lasted until Miami, turning to Robert Lansdorp in April and not staying with him for very long as the veteran coach couldn't travel with her all the time.

Martin Sinner was her next choice although that didn't last either, with Bouchard reaching for Martin Joyce in October. With these 128 points, Eugenie cracked the top-100 again and she was ready to chase more significant results in 2019, reaching the quarter-final in Auckland and losing to Serena Williams in the second round at the Australian Open.

Bouchard was also the quarter-finalist at Newport Beach at the end of January and that turned to be her last good result so far, struggling with an abdominal injury and losing five of the previous six matches. After spending some time in Miami, Bouchard told her fans she is still working on her rehab and just two days later Joyce announced he and Bouchard would not work together anymore. The Canadian has remained silent and we will have to wait for more news about a possible comeback date or the new coaching staff.
