Miomir Kecmanovic hopes to win Grand Slam, become top-10 player
Rising Serbian star Miomir Kecmanovic has set big goals for himself as he hopes to one day break into the top-10 and become a Grand Slam champion.
The 19-year-old drew attention to his name last month when he made the Indian Wells Masters quarter-final as a lucky loser before losing to 2016 Wimbledon runner-up Milos Raonic.
Kecmanovic lost to American Marcos Giron in the qualifying final round but still entered the main draw as a lucky loser after a player withdrawal.
The Serb was then given a wildcard for the Miami Masters, where he made the second round before losing to home-favorite Frances Tiafoe.
Kecmanovic, who started the year ranked at No. 131, broke into the top-100 for the first time in his career following his Indian Wells campaign.
The Serb rose to his career-high ranking of No. 88 on this week's updated ATP rankings list.
"Playing big players on big stages is a dream come true. Hopefully, I can keep it up for many years as my ultimate goal is [to win] a Grand Slam and to be a Top 10 player," Kecmanovic exclusively told the International Tennis Federation (ITF).
"It's a nice feeling to know that some people think I can maybe replace some of the guys up there at the moment, but I don't pay too much attention to that. I don't want thoughts of that to throw me off course. I just want to work hard and enjoy myself."
