Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic impressed me in Monte Carlo - Berrettini

In an interview to Sky Sport Matteo Berrettini was asked what player impressed him the most in Monte Carlo so far. "You cannot do anything but mention Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic", Berrettini said. "Dominic Thiem was playing well having won in Indian Wells but he lost. It's always a pleasure to see them playing. It's my first time here in Monte Carlo, so I enjoyed both the experience and the club. I am enjoying."

On the Next Generation players, the Italian added: "Daniil Medvedev is playing really well, he won the early rounds easily against tough players like Joao Sousa and Radu Albot. He is playing a great tournament, he is very difficult to play against, he seems to be slow but he is not despite his height as he moves very well. He plays well on all the surfaces so you will have to look at him."

On why he is staying in Monte Carlo despite having lost to Grigor Dimitrov on Sunday, Berrettini added: "In Europe, it may happen less because you are close to home and you may come back there for some days. But when you are abroad for example in Australia and in the United States you have to stay in the club, a lot of players want to hit with you, you hit the gym or you practice on the tennis court."

Asked what he works on when he loses a match, Berrettini added: "It depends a bit on the match. What kind of match, what feelings you had. We work on the same things, we have a plan and we add some of them every day. But if for example if you hit 20 double faults, you will work more on that in practice."
