Roger Federer lives on another planet, says Leconte

In an interview to SportsMag, the former world No. 5 Henri Leconte praised Roger Federer's legacy in tennis. The Frenchman said: "Roger lives on another planet. He is an unbelievable, amazing man. Besides being a great player, he is a very nice guy. But he is mostly driven by a pleasant humility. Roger has so many possibilities on his game that he is able to defeat any opponent. What he does at his age is amazing. He amazes us every time he plays! There is no strong adjective that can describe him. He is so focused, powerful, strong in terms of technique, physique and tactics that he will surprise us until the end. He is an example for everyone. But most of all, the greatest thing about him is his humility. With all that he won, it's unreal. He is out of the ordinary and besides his great physical skills, he is also a nice man. The guy lives on another planet, the Roger Federer planet."

Leconte also commented on the keys to win a clay match: "It's like a cards match, you build the point more than on other surfaces, so you have to play a lot, and that requires an extreme focus, much more powerful than other Surfaces. Roger Federer knows how tough it is to win there."

On a Frenchman not winning a Grand Slam since 1983, Leconte concluded: "When Jo-Wilfried Tsonga was facing David Ferrer in the 2013 semifinals I really thought that he could go through. When we see a player like Ferrer, who has not a big weapon, you can make it although he is a great clay-courter. It takes a huge work and away has not been found yet. When Yannick Noah won in 1983, you cannot imagine the amount of work he did. Look at Stan Wawrinka in 2015. We should question ourselves, stop mentioning that a junior player wins Orange Bowl because he has not done anything yet."
