Roger Federer's former doubles partner accused of rape
There have been developments in 41-year-old former Swiss doubles player Yves Allegro's four-year-old rape case.
In October 2014, while working as a coach for the Swiss tennis federation, reportedly Allegro had gone to Tallinn, Estonia, for a press conference held by the European Federation. There, he is said to have dated a former Austrian player. One night, after consuming a lot of alcohol, Allegro was pretty aggressive towards the woman, and it's unclear if she wanted or not to have a sexual relationship. She suffered from injuries, swelling and scratches. A hearing will take place on December 9, 2019. Allegro has not been removed from his job with Swiss Tennis. And, the Swiss Tennis President Rene Stammbach said they are aware of the controversy, but at the moment, Allegro will keep working for them. Allegro's lawyer said they are confident of obtaining a favourable decision exonerating him.
Allegro teamed up several times with Roger Federer, often in Davis Cup. The two also won 2003 Vienna and 2005 Halle titles and reached 2004 Bangkok final. Allegro achieved a doubles career-high ranking at No. 32. In singles, he achieved his career-high ranking at No. 210. He sometimes speaks about his compatriot Federer in interviews. This year, he had said that Roger's decision to be back playing on clay courts was a right one.
