Serena Williams Sells Bel Air Mansion for $8.1 Million

Tennis - Former World No. 1 Serena Williams has sold her mansion in Bel-Air, in which she lived for more than a decade, for $8.1 million. The house has been listed since 2017 and its price has been brought down, listing first for $11.99 million, and then for $9,99 million.

According to the LA Times, the mansion is set on nearly three acres, was built in 1935 and has 6,100 square feet of living space. The report also says that the house has "high ceilings, marble and hardwood floors and a full-service hair salon are among features of note. A curving wall of clerestories and French doors line the living room, bringing in leafy views. Nearby is an executive office/study and a wet bar, both finished in dark wood. A lavish bathroom, a sitting area and dressing room comprise the multiroom master suite. Outside, the tree-lined estate has private walking trails that wind through the property. A secluded swimming pool, a pool house, gardens and covered patio space make up the grounds."

Williams, who has won 23 Grand Slam titles in her career, and is one short of tying the record held by Margaret Court. The 37-year-old is currently ranked No. 11 in the world, having worked her way back after taking a break to give birth to her first child in 2017.

Williams has played three events in 2019, losing in the quarter-finals to Czech Karolina Pliskova at the Australian Open, retiring in the third round of the Indian Wells Masters while trailing to Garbine Muguruza, and in the third round of the Miami Masters before taking the court to Qiang Wang.
