Stan Wawrinka reveals how many years he has left in tennis
In an interview with Tages Anzeiger, Stan Wawrinka revealed how many years he thinks he has left in tennis. The 33-year-old Lausanne native said: "I think I can play for a few more years at a very good level. Whether it's three, four, five or two years, I do not know. Three would be really nice. I know that if I have to stop tomorrow, I will have won much less than what I ever dreamed as a kid. I achieved almost all what you can in tennis."
"My work has a deadline. It has less less to do with my age and body. As long as I am motivated, I will continue. But in our job the body stops at some stage!"
Will the body make you retire? "I think so. If it was the mind, I would have stopped after the surgery. I basically started from stretch, I had to work a lot again. And I was not sure I could be back at a good level. It shows that my head is still at 100 percent."
Looking at my knee, I am 100 percent confident again. But there are many other things. After so many years on Tour, it always changes. You have to handle it as most as possible. You cannot overplay, you have to give your body time to rest. In the same time you have to stay focused."
