Tomas Berdych set to be ranked outside top-100 for first time since 2004
Czech tennis star Tomas Berdych won't be a top-100 ranked player anymore when the ATP rankings list gets updated on Monday as he is set to leave the top-100 club after a decade and a half spent spent there.
Berdych, now ranked at No. 98 in the world, is projected to fall down to No. 101 on Monday after skipping this week's Monte Carlo Masters where he lost in the first round last year.
The 33-year-old's ranking downfall started last year, when he struggled during the first part of the season before deciding to call it a season after Queen's to undergo a back surgery.
Despite a six-month absence, the Czech made a good start to this season as in his first three tournaments of the season he finished runner-up in Doha, made the Australian Open round-of-16 and reached the Montpellier semi-final.
Unfortunately for Berdych, his troublesome back then started giving him problems as he then picked up back-to-back round-of-16 exits in Rotterdam and Dubai, before losing his opener at the Indian Wells Masters and pulling out of the Miami Masters.
Berdych, who started the year ranked at No. 71, was ranked at No. 57 following his Dubai run and at No. 59 following his Montpellier showing respectively.
The Czech, a 13-time ATP champion, was a too-10 player for years as he achieved his career-high ranking of No. 4 in the world four years ago in 2015.
