Alexei Popyrin: I'm looking to break into top-100 sometime soon

Rising Australian star Alexei Popyrin says he now feels more comfortable playing on the biggest tennis stage as his goal is to break into the top-100.

The 19-year-old wildcard came from a set down to beat home favorite Ugo Humbert in the French Open first round 3-6 6-3 7-6 (10) 6-3.  . The Australian, who is now enjoying a career-high ranking of No. 109 in the world, could soon achieve his goal if he clinches a few more wins on the clay of Roland Garros.

Popyrin's next opponent will be Serb Laslo Djere, who beat Spaniard Albert Ramos-Vinolas in the first round.

Once the Australian breaks into the top-100, he will set another goal for himself.

"I just feel more and more comfortable playing on this level," Popyrin said, per AAP.

"I'm looking to break the top 100 sometime soon and then I will set another goal.

"But I haven't looked past the second round; I know I've got Laslo Djere or Ramos-Vinolas, but I have no clue who I have in the third round."

It remains to be seen how far can 2017 French Open boys' singles champion Popyrin go at the tournament this year.
