Bianca Andreescu Confirms That She Will Play French Open

Tennis - Canadian youngster Bianca Andreescu has confirmed that she will participate at the French Open this year, according to Tennis Tonic. The 18-year-old has not played any tournaments on the clay court season due to a right shoulder injury after she had a fantastic start to the season during which she reached the final in Auckland and won two titles including the Indian Wells Masters Series event. She also reached the fourth round of the Miami tournament where she suffered the shoulder injury and had to withdraw from the tournament.

Andreescu has been training at the Rafael Nadal Academy in Mallorca, Spain currently and has confirmed that she would participate in the French Open Grand Slam tournament where she will be seeded for the first time in her career at a Grand Slam event.

Andreescu has said that she loves playing on clay and it is one of her favourite surfaces, adding that it is one of her favourite surfaces and that it is easier on the body as compared to the hardcourts. She was also ranked No. 3 in the junior ITF rankings. In her two previous appearances at the French Open, Andreescu lost in the qualifying draw on both occasions - in the first round in 2017 and the third round in 2018. In the junior event, she reached the quarter-finals of the singles event in 2017 and won the doubles event with Carson Branstine. That was her second consecutive doubles Grand Slam in the juniors after she had also partnered with Branstine to win the Australian Open.

She is currently coached by Frenchwoman Nathalie Tauziat, who is a former Wimbledon finalist and World No. 3. Her 20-4 record on the season is one of the leading records on the tour this year.
