Coach Daniel Vallverdu speaks very highly of David Ferrer

Well-known tennis coach Daniel Vallverdu has spoken highly of Spanish tennis legend David Ferrer ahead of the Spaniard's last tournament. 

Ferrer, 37, will say goodbye to tennis in front of his home fans at the Madrid Masters. 

The Spaniard is set to play both singles and doubles event in Madrid. 

Ferrer, ranked at No. 144 in the world, was given a singles wildcard by the tournament organizers. 

Also, the 37-year-old will team up with his good friend and fellow compatriot Roberto Bautista Agut to play the doubles event. 

"Last practice with David Ferrer. It has been a privilege to share so many hours on and off the court with you. You are the ultimate competitor and a special person. Wish you and your family nothing but the best in life. I will miss you on tour amigo," coach Vallverdu wrote on Twitter. 

Ferrer, who debuted at the Madrid event in 2003, is set to make his 16th main draw appearance on the clay of Madrid. 

The Spaniard's best result in Madrid came five years ago when he made the semi-final before losing to Japan's Kei Nishikori.
