French Open to have new roof in 2020, confirms official

In an interview to Welovetennis, Gilles Jourdan commented on the Philippe Chatrier stadium going through renovations in the French Open. "When you know what the French Open represents, it's obvious that it's an important job especially if it does not work. There is also a wish of confirming that our choice of staying in Paris is good, that this new Stadium will be a different venue than others. In 2020, the roof will come. It was impossible not to build it. From a sports point of view, it was also necessary to understand that TV rights are one of the keys economically and that rain is a risk. I do not know how it will go because we are still in a classical model of sponsorship and TV. We are at the beginning of a new era, we will see how the evolution will be."

On Rafael Nadal saying at least 25 seconds are needed between points, Rusedski added: "It is hard to argue with that. I like to see tennis played at a quicker pace at times, I think it makes people do different things out there, sometimes you have to serve and volley, change up your tactics. Two great champions but for me, Rafa takes way too much time and Novak as well with the bouncing of the ball. A little bit quicker for the fan at home might be a little bit better and might shorten the match as another dimension I think. I love the shot clock but I’d like to see it called a little bit more often.”
