Having another player like Rafael Nadal will be impossible - Orantes

In an interview to AS the former Spanish player Manuel Orantes commented on how the future of the country's tennis looks like once the 17-time Grand Slam winner Rafael Nadal retires from the professional sport. "Saying that when he retires you will have another Nadal the following year is impossible. If you look at all the great players who had this level at world level, you never had one like them. Getting to Nadal's level is almost impossible because players like him are amazing. You need to have a good system, a structure so that all the players can perform at their best level", said Orantes.

He also shared his regret: "I did not win the Davis Cup but back in the day we did not have the team to win it and the only we could win it was in 1972 but Andres Gimeno got injured the day before the draw against the United States. We lost 3-2 and if he played we could have won as he had always defeated Stan Smith and Harold Solomon."

Through her official Twitter account, the Argentinean player Paula Ormaechea commented on Rafael Nadal's quotes about the equal prize money in Barcelona. "Sometimes it would be good that you would not even give an opinion on it. World image, giving this image. This is not how we go forward, Rafael!", said Ormaechea.
