Patrick Mouratoglou speaks on Alexander Zverev's Grand Slam struggles

Coach Patrick Mouratoglou believes everyone thinking Alexander Zverev was ready to win a Grand Slam after winning his maiden Masters 1000 title put a big pressure on the German's back. 

Zverev, ranked at No. 3 in the world, won his maiden Masters 1000 a year ago after beating Austrian Dominic Thiem in the Madrid Masters final. 

After making a breakthrough at the Masters 1000 level, many believed the 22-year-old was ready to do the same at the Grand Slam level. 

However, that wasn't the case as, following his Madrid title, the German's best result at the Grand Slam level was the French Open quarter-final. 

In the remaining three Grand Slams played since winning Madrid, the 22-year-old picked up third round exits at Wimbledon and the US Open before making the round-of-16 at this year's Australian Open. 

Zverev's preparation for this year's French Open hasn't been promising so far as the world No. 3 has picked up just three wins and three losses this clay season.
