Now Roger Federer is perfect, but in the past he was a bad guy - Panatta

In an interview to his YouTube channel, the former world No. 4 and 1976 French Open winner Adriano Panatta commented on Roger Federer's legacy in tennis. The Italian had some great words for the Swiss. "I saw him playing since when he started playing tennis", said Panatta. "Now he is perfect, he never gets angry on the court but in the past as a kid he was throwing rackets, behaved badly, he was a bad guy but then he matured and you could see that he was strong because the way he hit the ball, you rarely saw guys playing that way. Panatta also praised Rod Laver: "He was a lefty, hit very well, he had both a slice and topspin backhand, he was often coming to the net but most of all he was strong mentally he did not have too many ups and down. He was an example for us, in terms of technique, mental and physical strength, great behaviour."

The Swiss player said: "The fact that I met Mirka so early was definitely a happy coincidence! 2000 Sydney Olympics was the start of our love story." At the time, Federer was a teenager, not so much famous and millionaire either. "She does not only give a lot of consistency to my life but as a player, she was also very professional which I cannot say about me in the past."

Federer's agent Tony Godsick added: "It's not a case that Roger never won a tournament before their first meeting."
